Something about a rocking chair...

Maybe it's because a rocker is one of those things all mommies use to lullaby their little bundle of joy to sleep. That phase doesn't last long and you learn to really enjoy and savor that time. So when Alayna got her own little rocker from her grandparents as her first Christmas present last year, I was excited. I thought that this little chair is going to be something special that she will grow up with. She will sit it in and read books, rock her dolls and some day pass it on to her little girl...(sniff). So I decided that it would be really cute to start taking her picture in this chair every so often and we can watch how she grows into her special little rocker.

The first picture was taken when she turned 7 months old and the second picture is at 8 and a half months old. She has grown so much in only a few weeks hasn't she! I have to say that she is so beautiful...but I am probably a little partial

Happy Birthday to Shawn!

Photobucket
Today is Shawns 31st birthday! So I just wanted to take the time this morning to wish him a happy day and thank him for being a wonderful husband and daddy to us! I asked Ashton what we should get daddy for his birthday and he told me "i think we should get him a new toy so that he can play with it." I wonder who he really wanted the toy for? So HAPPY BIRTHDAY SHAWN! Hope your day is a good one...we love you!

Rain, Rain, come our way!

On Monday and Tuesday we were thankful to receive some rain! Our dog, Eli, was actually running around the yard while it was raining! I think he was just as excited as we were to see some much needed rain on our yard. Our grass has now turned many shades of green for the time being. So far this week, that has been the most exciting thing to happen at the Orthober house...although little Alayna has, we think, learned to wave. When she sees us waving, she just sticks her little hand way up high in the air! It's really cute. Ashton is just being his normal self this week...most of the time good, but you have to remember he is three and a half and this age sometimes has some bad moments. I've learned that sometimes I need a time out more than he does to compose myself! This age is hard;) But I still remind myself that before I know it, he will be off to school and I won't have him at home as much, so I try to enjoy the time we have each day. He is growing so fast! On Sunday he had on his little khaki pants and I told Shawn, "look his pants are high waters already!" This explains why he has been eating every 30 minutes! He is growing like a little weed!
