Banana Pudding and a sunny day..

This weekend has been so nice outside! Today I had to cook a dessert for a meeting we are going to today. I choose banana pudding. This recipe is so easy and really good. It's not a traditional home made pudding, but is still quite good! Of course, when Paula Deen is the cook who came up with it...it's probably going to #1 fattning and #2 really yummy! If you are interested in this recipe, just go here to get it: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/paula-deen/not-yo-mamas-banana-pudding-recipe/index.html I didn't use the cookies she called for this time because they are a little more pricey. I just used the Sandies brand shortbread instead. I hope it's just as good :)

While I was cooking earlier, I noticed it was really quiet, with my kids that is never a good sign. I thought for sure they were getting into something. This is how I found them...they were laying in Ashton's room listening to one of this audio stories.

I love when they are getting along :) Happy weekend everyone!

Snow Day!!

Although the newsman said that we had an 80% chance of snow...I was skeptical :) But this morning at around 7:45, I heard Ashton at the window yelling "HAIL!" It was so funny! I was like, no son...that is snow!! I quickly scrambled to get the kids dressed because I just knew it wasn't going to last long. We had to improvise...as we don't have a lot of snow days here...so both of them had gloves on that were to big :) They played around a bit before the cold got to them. After warming up a bit, they went back out. All Ashton cared about was making a snowball and Alayna just thought it was fun to go knock the snow off of what ever it had accumulated and she also just kept saying she was "making footprints." The snow hasn't ended yet...just when it starts to taper off, and I think "ahh...well guess that's it" the snow starts up again with these huge flakes! What a fun surprise to wake up to today! Happy snow day everyone :)

Back in the swing of things...I hope!

What an absolute beautiful day we are having today! I wish it would just stay like this all summer long :) Today is a treat, because in the forecast is another cold week ahead. We were all able to make church services this morning. We have missed several because we were all sick, so it was nice to get back into our Sunday routine. Although, the kids (meaning MY kids) were not on there best behavior this morning during church. I guess it doesn't take much time for children to forget how they are suppose to behave in certain circumstances. Well...maybe evening services will be better. After church, we joined some of our closest friends for a lunch at Olive Garden. We had a good time, as we always do with this family! So Monday is almost here again, I wonder what this week has in store for us?

CiCi's, the mall, and Alayna the shopper

Friday already! This week went by fairly quickly. I let Ashton to school today, wich later on in the evening I really regretted. Since he has been a little under the weather, he hasn't been sleeping very well. I thouht he was ready to go to school...but it totally wore him out! We decided to take the family to CiCi's pizza (I know...exciting right!) and then we went to the mall for a quick Gymboree run. Ashton was so tired the whole time. I felt guilty for sending him to school today. I hope he sleeps well tonight because I would really like my son back in the morning :)
Now, going back to the whole CiCi's pizza thing...we never go there. It was quick and the kids ate fairly well and I didn't have to cook, so I was okay with it! Can I just say how much I would like to just go out for a grown up date? We havn't done that in forever...I'm thinkin' Cheesecake Factory and a movie :)
So after we ate, we ran into the mall so I could go to Gymboree. As we were walking through Macy's, Alayna kept pointing out things like scarves, purses and dresses and telling us how pretty they were. Shawn is a little worried about her shopping habits later:) She is very aware of pretty things....and yesterday she looked at my bracelet and said very clearly "Mommy, that is SO cute!" Kids...they make this life so sweet don't they?

Colds, colds, go away!

Today marks a whole week since the colds have hit our house. It all started with Alayna...last Wednesday she started coughing with a runny nose. Shawn and I came in on Friday and Ashton started on Monday. I hope it's now coming to an end, because we are ready to get out of this house! I had to miss work on Monday, and most people like to miss work...but not me! I am so blessed to just love my job! Have I ever mentioned that? I do. My little class just brightens my day :) I went back to work yesterday, it was a beautiful day and the kids really enjoyed playing outside for the first time in what seems like forever! It's been such a rainy and cold winter here this year, we've had to stay inside a lot. Today is another pretty day outside, and I'm thinking my kids could use some outside air after being in the house so long. Since we have been sick, I havn't been to the grocery store in a while. This morning Ashton was not to happy we were out of waffles..so guess it's time to go :) Here is a picture of how I found Alayna this morning watching cartoons...she loves to wrap herself up in her blankies :)

2/1/2010...

This week Ashton and I are only going to school on Friday, so...we are going to enjoy some time at home I guess. We may venture out one day for a lunch date with Mom, Julie and baby Hannah :) Until then, I'm going to do my coupon matching, clean house, update our blog...and stay warm because it's gonna be cold this week. I don't know how mucy longer we have of our Texas winter, but I think we will all be glad for it to warm up in the near future. I put together a little slide show of all of Alayna's rocking chair pictures. Even though it's not long, it does show just how much she has changed since her very first one! I will just add to it as she has more taken, but for now, enjoy!
