What a beautiful day...

For an easter egg hunt! Todays temp was in the mid 80's and sunny, the kids had a great time hunting eggs at school today! Ashton had a great time with all of his friends. They all ran around picking up eggs. The funniest thing I saw today was a few of the little ones picking up eggs, shaking them, and if they didn't hear any sound in the eggs...they tossed them back down on the ground!
Ashton was happy with all of his eggs today, I'm sure he can't wait until Sunday morning though to see what the Easter bunny brings him :)

Friday already?

My goodness, this week just flew by already! This time last week we were getting up and getting ready to go out on the boat. Well...actually at this exact time, we were all still in bed! Anyway, regardless as I get a little older all the time I realize that one thing is true that every adult has ever told me "time flys, you blink and it's another year gone." I realize this all the time with my kids!
So yesterday was my first day to keep my little Hannah. She is my niece, and let me tell you...she was the best baby! I told my sister that if she had not been in the same room as us all day, that I would have forgotten she was there :) She reminds me of Ashton as a baby. He was just like her, the easiest happiest baby!
Last night my sister and I went down to the consignment sale. There was a lot of stuff there! None of which I really needed anymore. It made me a little sad that I didn't need to look at the baby stuff. I didn't find much this time, but that's okay. Julie found a few cute outfits for Hannah though, so that was good :)
After work today we are going to Portrait Innovations to have the kids spring picture taken. I hope they are fast, because Alayna will hardly sit long enough to snap one picture, let alone 20 or more! I always tell them this when we schedule.."we have a very active two year old, we need someone really patient and good with toddlers." I'll post them as soon as I can this afternoon! I love the outfits we picked, so they have great potential!
Well friends, It's 7:45 and I need to head off to work this morning! Have a great one!

Wednesday 3.24.10

Today Ashton and I finally made our way back to school. It was good to see all my little kids this morning. I think spring break did all of us good :) We talked about rainbows today in class and we did a craft in which they had to really listen to directions to do it right. Did they do it right you ask? Yes!! They did awesome. I hung up all the rainbows from the ceiling and it looks really cute in our room right now.
Last night I went to my orientation for my CDA class that I, and most of the teachers at school, are taking. This class is six Saturdays long and in the end will result in a CDA license. It stand for child development associates. It's like adding onto my BS degree, so I'm excited :) It will be beneficial to my teaching as well as my parenting...at least I hope! One thing that I didn't plan for is homework and quizzes. It's been a while since I have had to do those two things..so wish me luck!
Before my class last night, I stopped by Target (one of my favs!) to grab a few things we needed. Two of the items I was super excited about was the Toy Story and Toy Story 2 blu rays. I bought both of them for only 15.98! That is such an awesome deal for two blu ray movies. If you want to know how I did it...I had two ten dollar coupons. One for each movie. Target automatically took off ten dollars if you bought both movies at the same time. So in the end, after saving thirty dollars..the total was 15.98!! Then today as I was checking my "mommy saving" blogs, I found a great Amazon deal on a blu ray player for 59.99. We ordered it for our other TV, that deal is hard to pass up...plus it was free shipping! I love finding great deals, can you tell?
I scheduled the kids to have their spring pictures taken on Friday. I can't wait to see what we get this time. Alayna is always super challenging to get a great picture of because she simply will not sit long enough to take it. She always wants to run around and look at stuff. All while Ashton is sitting there saying "cheese."
Hope all have a wonderful evening!

What a great spring break trip!

We arrived home a while ago and I just had to look through our pictures we took these past couple of days. We had the best time with the Sample family! I have to say we are truly blessed to have such friends :) The kids had the wonderful time with each other...and if I do say so myself, so did us adults! We left Thursday morning and headed out. Karri and I had the kids in the van and Shawn and Doug got to ride in the "quiet" car. We drove to Edna, TX where we stayed with the Sample family. They were so sweet to have us in their home! After settling in there, we headed out to the bay house. There we visited and ate dinner. The next day we got an early start and took the boat out to the river. We had a picnic on the bank and then headed in where we took the boat to the bay. The bay was my favorite! We saw pelicans diving for shrimp and we also saw porpoises swimming! The kids had a blast finding shells at "shell beach." We just had a great time. Today we slept in a little, the kids are so tired still! We were so lucky to enjoy a yummy lunch of homemade fried shrimp (this wasn't any small restaurant shrimp!) veggies, rolls, corn and potato salad. Yep! I'm still full at 8:30 pm :) It was so good!
Well...our weekend is almost to a close. It was a great one, and I hope just a first of many more fun weekends with our dear friends :)

Spring Break Monday

After a week long gospel meeting, getting home late on Saturday and the time change on Sunday...we are pooped! This morning Ashton of course was up at the crack of dawn like always, but Alayna and I slept in until 9:45! Of course...this used to be 8:45, so I didn't feel like to much of a slacker ;) I'm so glad I didn't have work today because I honestly know I would not have been to full potential for my class as tired as I was. Today is the first day of spring break! We are not doing anything overly exciting. The kids are playing outside (I have to insert here that Ashton is wearing his Transformer Halloween costume to play) and I am about to vacuum because I absolutely have to do this at least every other day.
I did call the vet office a little while ago to book Eli a kennel over Christmas time. We are planning a big family trip to Branson over Christmas! A whole week and it's going to be awesome! Yes, it is still a long time away, but we all know how time flys and I like to plan ahead and make sure he is in good care while we are away. After all...Eli was our first baby :) Speaking of Eli being our first baby, he will be 8 next month. The significance in that is we got him right after we were married...8 years ago tomorrow! Wow!! Time flys when you are in love I guess :)
Guess I better get to my carpets! I'm pretty sure we will have more exciting days to come this week. Today we will just enjoy being home :)

Scentsy and Nutella...two of my favorite things!

I've discovered two things this week that I would love to share. The first is a Scentsy scent that I burned for the first time today. It's called Orange Creamsicle and I just love it!! It smells so summery and yes..it smells exactly like an orange creamsicle ice cream :) If you don't know what Scentsy is, it is a great home fragrance system. It is a wick-less candle and it works awesome! I'm going to have a home party at the end of the month and everyone is invited! I usually don't do any type of home parties...but I couldn't pass up on Scentsy because I just love it so much. I'm actually thinking of selling it myself!
The second thing I've discovered this week is Nutella. I know, I know...it's been around forever and I just now found it. It's SO yummy!! But it can't be good for you, so you can't eat it very often :) I especially love it on strawberries! The kids, of course love it as well!
Other than enjoying my two latest discoveries, this week has been busy and it's only Tuesday! We are having a wonderful gospel meeting at church. It's all about family. Last night the lesson was on marriage and it was really good! I'm looking forward to tonight's lesson on parenting :) So between that, work and stuff around the house, we are staying pretty busy! Today it is beautiful outside. Just the temperature I wish it would stay all summer long...I'm not a fan of anything higher than 85! The kids played in the backyard while I cleaned house and they had a blast. Ashton kept calling his bubble wand his "light saver" so that is what Alayna was calling it as well...which sounds really funny coming from a little 2 year old girls mouth!

San Antonio mini vacation

This weekend we were invited to join my sister and brother in law in one of the time share resorts in San Antonio for the weekend. We left on Friday right after Ashton and I got home from school and almost instantly regretted the route we took out of Austin. We hit Friday afternoon rush hour traffic in Austin...so it took us a lot longer to arrive to San Antonio than expected. But once we got there, we felt much better! Traffic can be so stressful! Our "room" was so nice. I say "room" because it was more like an apartment. It was decorated so pretty and we had a wonderful view from our outside balcony. On Saturday we went to the zoo and we had a great time! The San Antonio zoo is wonderful :) We enjoyed it so much! This zoo is covered in all kinds of vegetation and their is a lot of animals to see. The kids just had a wonderful time there. We ended our day out with a ride on the park train. This was Ashton's highlight of the day. We have one more night here and we'll probably play some games and just hang out. Just goes to show...you don't have to go far from home to have a little time away :)

One week ago...

You would never know that one week ago we were playing in snow! What about today you ask? Well, it was 70 degrees and we played outside with short sleeves and bubbles! Only in Texas will you find such swinging weather patterns. We loved it though, we are ready for some warm weather (notice I didn't say HOT, just warm). Today at school I think my class had a case of spring fever, they had a hard time staying focused on our topics. So what did we do instead? Out side we went! You could tell they were so glad to be on the play ground. I was really wishing I had thought to bring bubbles to school, they would have loved it! The running and playing was exactly what they needed. So when I got home I let my kids do the same :) Tomorrow night is our Spring musical at school. Ashton's class is doing a David and the Giant skit. Pics and video to come for sure! Here is a few of the kiddos enjoying our sunny afternoon :)
